Shane kicking back at pool party |
Hello to all our friends and fans. This page is from Shane to you. If you have questions for Shane be sure and write to him at cgmshane@aol.com and he will be happy to answer them for you. This page is geared to share things from our road trips, and also from the times when he is just kicking back and relaxing. We want you to visit this page often and enjoy getting to know Shane.
Q Hey Shane, what do you like to do when your not out singing.
A Well, since I am not out on the road full time I have to work at a job. But I enjoy talking to my friends, playing with our dog, going to movies and swimming. I recently took a Red Cross first aid class and also a Red Cross CPR class. I had wanted to do this for quite some time and finally had a chance to take out time for both classes. I also love going out to eat a good steak meal or to Red Lobster. I love their cheesy biscuits.
Q Where do you see your music ministry going in the near future?
A Lots of people ask me if I am a preacher. I tell them not yet anyway. I don't know what the Lord may have for me in that respect but I do know that I have been writing more songs, and God seems to always direct my song writing to deal with the everyday things of life. Things that people deal with everyday, the hurts, the temptations and snares that the devil puts across our paths to turn us from the right way. I do find that God is leading me more toward a stronger ministry in the word and I think that is why the Lord has put together the combined ministry with my mother, Marilyn Irwin of Blood Bought.
Q What is that ministry?
A Blood Bought Ministry will utilize several different facets. Songs, object lessons from scripture, and humor from everyday life to bring home lessons that people will remember after the services. Lessons that they can take home so to speak and remember what God has said in the scripture to help them in every situation they can find themselves in. Q Shane, your music has changed some in the last few years. Why do you think that is, and what style of music do you think you sing now?
A Actually I think I sing several different styles of music. Early in my ministry I sang mostly Country Gospel, but in the last few years, especially since I have been writing more of my own songs, I have started singing more Southern Gospel and even some Bluegrass. I believe the reason for that is to broaden the audience I am able to reach. As my music is played more around the world, the varied styles helps the music to be accepted in a broader area.
Q What do you enjoy doing more, Festivals and Outdoor Venues or Churches?
A Well, I enjoy both of them and believe that being a servant of our Lord you can minister in both places. There is a need to get the message of Jesus out to the world and I think God can use you no matter where you are. Outdoor venues are a lot of fun, and many times we share the stage with other artist friends which is really cool. And Churches are great too. You get to share the word and fellowship with God's people and meet some wonderful pastors. Everywhere we go we just thank the Lord for the opportunity to share His love and salvation, and of course see God move in everyone's life. Q How do you feel the ministry of Blood Bought is going? Do you find it more difficult to do it than just the normal concerts?
A Yes in some ways it really is, but I do also believe it has opened many new doors. We find that the combined ministry of Blood Bought with the short skits, the colored lights, and the funny object lessons reach all generations and that is what we want. Be watching for pictures from Blood Bought Ministry and you will see what I mean.
Q Who would you say has influenced your life and music the most?
A As far as my music I would have to say that Dottie Rambo has had the biggest influence on me. I have loved her style of music every since I was just a small child and first started singing. One of the first songs I ever learned was Sheltered In The Arms of God . I also loved Vestal Goodman and have always enjoyed listening to the Gaithers. I guess that genre of music, the Southern Gospel and Country Gospel is just my natural style. I was raised in church and brought up in a very strong Christian Family. My Grandparents were a very big part of my life and I can remember the happy times we had when we would all get together around the dinner table. Birthdays, Holidays or just any excuse such as the pastors coming over was a good reason for a big family dinner and then Grandma would get out the "good" china and "silverware". I really miss them since they have moved to Heaven. Next to them though would be my Mother who has stood by me all my life. She has been there to teach me, train me, pray for me and give me a good "KICK" in the right direction when I needed it, and she works very closely with me now in my ministry.
Q What would you like to tell your fans out there?
A THANK YOU!! Thanks for all your prayers, for visiting my web site and for listening to my music. Also a great big THANK YOU to all the radio stations and DJ's for playing my music. Keep up the good work and keep requesting my songs. God Bless each and every one of you.
Q Tell me about your dog Patches?? What kind of a dog is she? She really is cute.
A. Thank you, Patches is a Shih-Tzu that my Mom bought at the Flea Market in Tulsa, OK. She is 100% spoiled rotten and of course has the rule of the house. She really is cute, but hates going to the groomers and loves swimming in the swimming pool and riding on her surf board. Mom has taught her to talk, (doggie talk of course) and when we come home from a trip or even church, she whines and talks and howls and it is so funny. Sure hope she is saying something nice!
Keep checking back for more questions and answers as well as more pictures. We hope you enjoy these and remember to write with YOUR questions.
Please help support the ministry with any donations that you can.
